How To Fix Spotify Status Not Showing on Discord

So you’re listening to your favorite tunes on Spotify, but Discord just won’t show that awesome status? No worries! We’ve all been there. Luckily, it’s usually an easy fix. Let’s walk you through it step-by-step in a fun, super simple way!

Why This Happens

Before we jump to the solutions, let’s understand what’s going on. Your Spotify activity can stop showing on Discord for a few reasons:

  • You haven’t linked Spotify properly.
  • Your Discord settings are off.
  • Spotify isn’t running in the background.
  • You’re not listening to Spotify on desktop.

Sounds like a lot, but don’t panic. It’s fixable!

1. Check If Spotify Is Linked to Discord

This is the most common issue. Maybe your Spotify isn’t connected, or it got unlinked after an update.

  1. Open Discord and click the gear icon near your username (User Settings).
  2. Go to the Connections tab.
  3. Click the green Spotify icon to connect your account.
  4. Log in to Spotify and give permissions.

Once it’s linked, you should see your Spotify username and a green icon.

2. Turn On “Display Spotify As Your Status”

Just linking isn’t enough. You also need to let Discord show your music.

  1. Go back to the Connections tab.
  2. Under Spotify, turn on “Display on profile” and “Display Spotify as your status”.

If it’s already on, try toggling it off and back on again. This refreshes the setting. Kind of like giving it a little kick.

3. Use Spotify on the Right Device

Important tip! Spotify status only shows on Discord if you’re using the desktop version of Spotify — not the mobile app or web player.

So make sure you’ve got Spotify running on your Windows or Mac computer. And keep the app open!

4. Turn On Activity Status

There’s a global setting in Discord that lets others see what you’re up to. If it’s off, your status—even for Spotify—won’t show.

  1. Open your Discord user settings.
  2. Click on “Activity Privacy”.
  3. Turn on “Display current activity as a status message”.

Try playing a song on Spotify after you toggle this. That little green note icon should pop right up on your profile!

5. Restart Both Apps

Sometimes the oldest trick in the book is the best: just restart everything.

  • Close Discord and Spotify completely. Not just minimize – actually quit them.
  • Then reopen Spotify first, start playing a song, and open Discord afterward.

This can magically fix weird syncing issues. Like hitting the refresh button on your music life.

6. Reconnect Spotify If All Else Fails

If nothing’s working, it’s time to break up and get back together.

  1. Go to Discord Settings > Connections.
  2. Click the X on the Spotify connection to remove it.
  3. Reconnect Spotify again like you did above.

Think of it as a fresh start for your apps’ relationship!

Bonus Tips

  • Make sure your Discord and Spotify apps are updated to the latest versions.
  • Check your internet. Slow Wi-Fi can mess up syncing.
  • Try logging out and back into both accounts.

Still no luck? Sometimes firewall settings or third-party apps can block the connection. Check your antivirus or any privacy tools you use.

Now You’re Rocking!

That’s it! You’re all set to show off your music taste on Discord while chatting with friends. Whether you’re jamming to pop, lo-fi, or Viking metal—your profile is now your jam journal.
